Step 1: Get the App

  • Via iTunes and sync it to your iPhone / iPod Touch
  • Via AppStore on the device, it installs automatically

  Step 2: Launch RecordStudio

  • Tap on the Icon
  • Press the play icon to listen to the included song
  • Press stop icon to finish playing

  Step 3: Create your first song

  • Go to the 'Options' (icon in the TabBar)
  • Tap 'New' and name your song
  • Press 'Okay', the new song is active now

  Step 4: Import an instrumental

  • Go back to the 'Tracks'
  • Tap 'import' in track 1, a list of intrumentals appears
  • Tap on the instrumental you want to import
  • If you choose one of the preinstalled intstrumentals which hasn't yet been downloaded, it'll do it now
  • Back in the 'Tracks' listen to the instrumental by pressing play
  • If the instrumental is a loopable sound (short .AIF), activate the loop button

  Step 5: Record a track

  • Choose the track you want to enable for recording by tapping it once (color changes to red)
  • Tap the track again to record in stereo-mode. Note: To record stereo an external dock-mic is
    required. The internal mic and the headset is just mono-input.
  • The record button becomes active
  • Click on the now active record button to record the track
  • Make some noise
  • Click stop to finish recording, the track will go back to the play mode
  • Repeat the steps to record other tracks or rerecord the track.

  Step 6: Change volumes

  • Press the play icon to hear your tracks
  • Go to 'Mixer' and adjust the sliders to set the volumes
  • Press 'mute' on the track you want to silence while keeping its slidersetting
  • To adjust the Master-Volume use the device's hardware volume buttons

  Step 7: Using the metronome

  • Go to 'Click' ('Options')
  • Activate the pre-listening by using the on/off slider
  • Use the number-keypad to set the tempo
  • Adjust the volume by using the volume-slider
  • Back in the 'Tracks' or 'Mixer' tap the click button on track 1 to de-/activate the click for the recording
  • Select a track to record and press record to record using the click

  Step 8: Change a track name

  • Double tap on a track to rename it
  • A dialog and the keyboard will appear
  • Type the new name and press OK

  Step 9: Delete tracks, songs or instrumentals

  • Activate the edit mode by pressing edit in the upper right
  • Choose the object you want to delete
  • Confirm the deleting
  • Leave the edit mode

  Step 10: Connect to a computer

  • Launch the connection using 'WiFi-Sync' ('Options')
  • Type the displayed address in your web browser (e.g. Safari, Firefox, Opera)
  • Download your recordings or upload new instrumentals

  • Download recordings to your computer:
      _ Select the song from the left area
      _ Left-click to open/close the list of recording
      _ Select the recording
      _ Right-click 'save target as...'
      _ Choose the name and target-location of the file

  • Importing your intrumentals to RecordStudio:
      _ On the right side choose 'Select File'
      _ Select the file you want to upload
      _ Press 'Upload'
